AREA RUGS
Area rug cleaning that keeps the colors in the fibers
A gentle yet deep rug clean that lifts dirt and allergens while preserving the colors in the fibers.
When harsh cleaning bleeds the dye and browns the fringe
A rug is not a small piece of carpet. It is usually a different fiber, a different dye and a different build, and the things that clean wall-to-wall carpet quickly can ruin it. Strong alkaline cleaners and too much heat push dyes out of the yarn, and a red or indigo can bleed into the cream beside it in a single wash.
The fringe is the other casualty. Cotton fringe wicks moisture and soil like a wick, so when it gets soaked and dries slowly it turns brown, and the browning often does not come out afterward. Rushed drying also leaves the foundation of a hand-knotted rug damp, which is where musty smells start.
Sitting in a living room or hallway for years, a rug also collects a lot of fine grit. That grit cuts the fibers as people walk across it, so a dirty rug wears out faster than a clean one, even when it still looks fine from across the room.

A gentle yet deep clean, and what TJ’s looks for first
TJ’s cleans area rugs with a gentle yet deep process that removes dirt and non-living allergens while preserving the colors within the fibers. Before the cleaning starts, the technician inspects the rug for problem areas, stains and pet messes, so the plan fits what is actually on the rug and not a guess from the doorway.
Pricing for larger rugs is clear. Area rugs 8X10 or larger are $3.85 per square foot and up. If a rug has a pet accident in it, mention it when you call 303-400-6961, because pet urine needs its own treatment and the technician can plan for it ahead of the visit.
TJ’s serves East Denver, Aurora and the surrounding metro, including Englewood, Arvada, Thornton, Parker, Centennial and Castle Rock. Cash customers receive a 10% discount, and exact appointment times are set at booking.
Drying, flat storage and how often to clean a rug
Let the rug dry completely before it goes back under furniture or onto a hardwood floor. Lay it flat with air moving across both sides, and keep it off the floor surface where moisture could be trapped between the rug and the boards. Do not fold it while it is damp, because a crease holds moisture and can leave a permanent line.
Turn the rug a quarter turn every few months so wear spreads out and sun fades evenly, and vacuum it with the beater bar off or set to a gentle height so the fringe does not get caught. A rug in a Denver entryway or under a dining table, where shoes and spills land, is worth cleaning about once a year. One in a low-traffic bedroom can wait longer.
If a color looks softer or a spot comes back in the days after the visit, call TJ’s at 303-400-6961. All workmanship is guaranteed up to 15 days.
